Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
