PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise advantage. Initially, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen years.
