Sam Fender has handed over the entirety of his £25,000 award cash to the MVT, which works to save the Britain's independent concert spaces.
He was awarded the award on October 16 as his latest record his work was chosen as the outstanding release of the previous year.
Fender has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in appreciation of the vital role local spots played in his initial steps.
"As an artist couldn't be pursuing my current career if it hadn't been for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," remarked Sam Fender. "These spaces are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately 16% of the total UK scene.
Over the past year, well-known musicians such as Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its efforts to support the industry, by applying a small levy to their ticket prices, which benefits independent venues.
Sam Fender also took part, generating over £100k on his recent tour to help thirty-eight small stages across the UK.
The money supported spaces that were confronting imminent closure due to issues caused by water damage, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and sound issues.
Some locations were granted financial assistance in improving amenities and technical equipment that directly benefitted musicians and fans.
"The idea that revenue from concerts in large arenas backs the local stages, where it all starts for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has said.
Fender is far from the only musician to donate his award winnings to good deeds.
In the band won the trophy in the year 1996 for their release their work, lead singer Cocker announced that the band would contribute their prize money to the organization War Child.
During 2002, musician the artist divided her award among a few charities, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"I also contributed a grand to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," she shared with outlets.
Two years ago, Ezra Collective gave their winnings to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other independent music bodies.
And the 1994 recipients the group gave their prize to a MS organization after a friend was found to have the condition.
"The victory was sufficient," remarked vocalist Small. "The cash was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success impacted another person's life."
In the past week, the MVT revealed it had protected a couple of grassroots venues in the South East, by placing them under community ownership.
The first in the city and The Croft in the city were purchased under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "stakes" in the properties.
